Forest Adventure

Last Saturday we enjoyed the gorgeous weather by heading out to Fontenelle Forest.  First stop – kids’ play area, complete with musical instruments.

Approximately 10 minutes into any outing, he’s ready for a snack.

The goal was to make it to the train tracks along the Missouri River…the highlight of Brendan’s hike.

When Daddy said it was time to go, he ran and fell on these rocks.  He got a tiny cut that bled and exclaimed, “I broked my leg!”

He hiked most of the way here (downhill) but had to be carried most of the way back up to the car.  We estimate that his little legs walked about a mile before he tuckered out.  Next time we’ll be prepared with a picnic lunch so we can take a rest before heading back.
