Three

All of a sudden, out of the blue, our baby turned three.  Three.  I’m still a little shocked.  I’m not sure what it is, but three just sounds SO much older than two.

Last year Tom had to go TDY on his actual birthday so Brendan and I started a tradition of birthday pancakes.  Unfortunately, he had a terrible cold and cough that kept him (and us) up most of the night for several nights last week.  Thursday he stayed home sick.  Tom and I had both planned to be off to spend his birthday with him, but he was feeling too yucky to do much of anything.  So we hit up the Burger King drive-thru and brought pancakes home.

I added some sprinkles for him. DSC_0004 DSC_0011-001

He hung out in his PJs all day, and after his nap he opened his presents. DSC_0013-001 DSC_0022 DSC_0023 DSC_0027

This was the highlight of his day.   DSC_0029-001

Yesterday he even had to take a nap with one of the pins. DSC_0030-001

You know he’s really feeling poorly when he doesn’t eat dessert.  He had a lick or two of icing and was all done. DSC_0036-001 DSC_0038-001

He’s mighty spoiled.  He couldn’t decide between Cinnamon Toast Crunch and Cocoa Puffs the next morning.  Since it was his birthday weekend, we let him have both.  And then his daddy let him have a cupcake.  At breakfast. DSC_0043-001 DSC_0052-001 DSC_0053-001

Finally!  Time to party!

DSC_0065I told Tom that I didn’t think we should have a party since we don’t really have friends here with kids his age.  He insisted that he needed a party, and it turned out great.

When I called the bowling alley to check prices, the deal was sealed when I was told he would get a personalized pin to take home with him.  This kid bowls all the time, including in the shower with shampoo bottles as pins.  I knew he would think his very own pin was super cool.  DSC_0061  He absolutely loved his bowling alley cake!DSC_0063DSC_0062

We didn’t have tons of kids, but it was pretty perfect.  It wasn’t chaotic and they each got plenty of bowling time. DSC_0084-001 DSC_0088-001 DSC_0104 DSC_0106 DSC_0108-001 DSC_0111 DSC_0112 DSC_0113 DSC_0116 DSC_0118-001 DSC_0121

He was too impatient to wait for a fork! DSC_0122

Marie coordinated our party and helped the kids take turns so that the parents could have a good time, too.  It truly was a great party, and I’m so glad we did it! DSC_0134-001 Happy birthday, precious boy!DSC_0123

Really enjoy all of the pictures and posts. Really miss you guys so much but appreciate the effort you take to share your lives. Brendan is the cutest boy ever!!!! My dad was a bowling fanatic along with his brothers. He would have gotten a kick out of Brendan’s passion for the game.
