“Warm” Weather Weekend

I picked Brendan up early Friday so we could go outside and play since it was such a gorgeous day.  I grabbed my camera and we got ready to go to the playground.  I figured he would want to ride his bike.  I figured wrong.  He wanted to ride in the bike seat on his dad’s bike.  I obliged, but I had to leave the camera at home.  Tom’s bike is too tall for me and I couldn’t figure out how to adjust the seat.  Steering the bike with a 30 pound kid on the front, while holding onto my camera, seemed like too much work.

An older boy walked past the playground carrying a football and Brendan proclaimed, “I want to play that with him.”  I told him we could go home and play soccer in our backyard so that’s what we were doing when Tom got home. DSC_0115 DSC_0118

Tom had the idea to bring out his remote control truck, which is actually pretty fun to watch.  Unfortunately, Brendan wanted to play with it instead of drive it with the remote so we had to put it away. DSC_0119

Not a happy camper. DSC_0120-001

We had a blast.  I had a Nerf gun fight with the little boy who lives next door.  I told Tom I didn’t have that much fun on our last date.  It makes me excited for spring! DSC_0144-001 DSC_0151-001Since it was so “warm,” we headed to the zoo Saturday morning.  Our objective was to see the lion cubs.  Unfortunately, it was nap time for them.  We could just barely see them sleeping.  Maybe next time.

Brendan’s sole interest in the zoo is the choo choo train.  It is taking a break until spring, but that’s ok by him.  He’s content to walk the tracks. DSC_0167-001 DSC_0172 DSC_0173-001 DSC_0177-001 DSC_0179-001 DSC_0182-001 DSC_0184-001 DSC_0187-001 DSC_0194-001 DSC_0203-002 DSC_0204-001 DSC_0209-001

I’m not sure who I think I’m kidding.  We go to the zoo for the popcorn. DSC_0213 DSC_0214-001 DSC_0221

We spotted this train yard, which didn’t appeal to him as much as I thought it would. DSC_0229 DSC_0231 DSC_0236 DSC_0240 DSC_0242

And this is what a morning of running around will do to you. DSC_0252-001
